Privacy Policy
The Daleel app for iPhone and Android, the website daleel.ummalife.com and the @DaaleelBot bot on Telegram. Updated 26 August 2026.
In short
The app has no accounts, and there is nowhere to create one. There are no ads. There are no third-party trackers or analytics libraries. Favorites, history, settings and microphone recordings stay on your device.
The only thing the app sends to the server is the number of the phrase you opened. A single switch in settings turns that off.
What is stored on your device
- favorite phrases and sections — as a list of numbers, without the texts;
- history: the last 60 phrases you opened;
- settings: text size, theme, transliteration, download policy;
- downloaded content updates, if you asked for them.
None of this is sent anywhere, and all of it is removed together with the app. History and favorites can be cleared inside the app at any time.
Microphone
The microphone is used in one place only — "Repeat after the speaker". Permission is requested at the moment you tap it, not at launch. The recording is written to a temporary file on the device, played back from there, and deleted when you close that screen. It is never uploaded, never sent to speech recognition, and never included in backups.
If you deny access, the rest of the app works as usual.
Anonymous statistics
When the "Anonymous statistics" switch is on (it is on by default), the app sends daleel.ummalife.com a list of the phrase numbers you opened. It is sent in batches, no more often than once every 25 seconds.
The server database holds exactly three fields: phrase number, date and a counter. No IP address, no device identifier, no time more precise than the day. These statistics cannot be traced back to a person. They exist so the author of the book can see which chapters to rewrite in the next edition.
The switch in settings stops the sending entirely.
Web server log
Like any website, the server records requests made to it: IP address, time, the requested address and the browser string. This is needed to tell failures from attacks. The log is kept for 14 days and then deleted automatically. It is not linked to the phrase statistics and is not used for anything other than keeping the service running and safe.
Content updates
The app can check whether a new edition of the text or a narrator recording has appeared. To do so it asks the server for a list of files with their sizes and checksums. Nothing about you is sent in that request.
The Telegram bot
The @DaaleelBot bot has one difference: to send you a file in chat it needs your Telegram identifier. It is used for that delivery only and is not stored. The rate limit keeps the identifier for no longer than a minute.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no age information. The content is a phrasebook and religious texts; there are no age restrictions.
Who the data is shared with
No one. There are no ad networks, no analytics services and no third-party tracking libraries in the app. Data is not sold and not passed to third parties.
Your rights
Everything stored about you is on your own device — you can erase it by clearing the app data or deleting the app. The statistics on the server are not linked to you and cannot be singled out on request, precisely because they contain nothing that points to a person. If you have a question or a request, write to us and we will answer.
Changes
If anything in this description changes, the date at the top of this page changes too. Material changes will also be noted in the app update notes.
